A dormer conversion in St Werburgh’s that turns the loft of a Victorian house into a nicely finished bedroom with an en-suite and plenty of built-in eaves storage.

The brief

The owners wanted a comfortable double bedroom with its own en-suite in the loft of their Victorian St Werburgh’s (BS2) home, with storage built in so none of the space was wasted.

The challenge

As with a lot of Victorian houses, the trick was fitting a proper bedroom, an en-suite and good storage into the roof while keeping a finish that sits naturally with the rest of the period home.

What we did

We created a well-proportioned loft bedroom filled with light from a large roof window, built generous storage into the eaves, and added a private en-suite bathroom, finished throughout to complement the character of the Victorian house.

The outcome

A nicely finished loft bedroom with a private en-suite and lots of eaves storage, a calm, characterful room that feels a natural part of the house.

  • Joe and his team did a great job on our loft conversion and 1st floor renovations. Our conversion came with the added complexity of lowering the first-floor ceilings to create enough space for the loft, but Joe took it all in his stride.Throughout the build, Joe was incredibly accommodating when we asked to include additional work, seemingly unfazed by any request and capable of making it a reality. His budgeting and organisation were excellent from start to finish, which no doubt helped us avoid any issues in what was quite an extensive project!It was a pleasure having Joe and his team in our home, they were respectful, hardworking, and clearly took pride in their work.
